Saturday was my 20th High School Reunion.  I had a blast seeing all the people I haven't seen in so many years.  It was great to catch up and see what everyone is up to.  I am looking forward to staying in better contact, too!

Sunday we had our weekly writing chat.  It was really great.  I love when my CP's all find the same thing that I need to fix.  It really shows me where I went astray.  I also like listening to the brainstorming that comes when we talk about our comments on the chapters.  It is so interesting how one persons comments can lead to a totally cool idea for my WIP.

I am making good progress on The Lost Princess, even if there are some things I need to go back and tweak in the first three chapters.  I have worked my way up to chapter 18 on my second draft, and hope to have the entire draft finished before the end of August (within my goal timeline!).

In other news, congratulations to Graeme!  Yesterday, he announced on his blog that he has a contract with MuseItUp Publishing.  Way to go Graeme!!!!

So, how was your weekend?  What's new with you?  Share in the comments!

  1. I so know what you mean. It's amazing how things can change so much just by a simple idea from one writer to another. Critique partners are awesome!Couldn't put a price on them if I tried. ;)

So happy for Sir Graeme. He totally deserves it!

  2. 20 Years, was it weird going back and seeing all your old friends? Mine 20th is this fall. Haven't yet decided if I am going.

  3. I was looking forward to it, as I haven't seen many of my classmates over the years. I was disappointed there were several not there I had hoped to see, but was thrilled to see those who were there (even if I didn't remember them all!--Sorry guys!)

  4. Oh, Mary! My 20 year reunion was last weekend too. But I couldn't go with all the stuff going on with our house move. I was really bummed. But thru Facebook I got to see some old faces and pics of the great time they had.

  5. My 20th HS reunion was surreal. I joined Facebook right afterwards so I could catch up with everyone.

I'm glad you're making progress with your manuscript. I've dug up an old manuscript I never really gave a chance. I'm falling in love with it all over again. In the meantime, I'm querying my most recent manuscript.

    Happy August!

  6. Hi Mary,

I'm a newly-agented YA author and I stumbled across your blog earlier today. Congrats on your manuscript! I've been having a lot of fun reading your posts (I blog-stalk whenever I need to procrastinate). Just wanted to stop by and introduce myself, and to say I'm looking forward to more of your posts!

Thanks for dropping by. I love reading comments and will respond by e-mail as soon as possible.
